Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from the family, she was grew to maturity by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. When she was a young girl Ford was afflicted with anxiety due to an obsessional-compulsive condition. Ford started to become interested in acting as a teenager and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she would not be a good for the school. Ford was then able to apply for a place in the Central School of Speech and Drama and was admitted on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall - who later played Pete Tyler in Doctor Who - was one of her fellow students. Ford earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. But, before then, Ford made a television debut on Surgical Spirit in an episode that aired in the year 1991. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate began her TV debut in 1991and appeared in shows such as The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. as well as London's Burning. Alongside her usual theatre work, Tate joined in the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate's stand-up comedy and humour, which she added to her set in 1996, quickly gained the attention of her peers.
